During this uncertain time, we would like to take a moment to reflect upon what makes our community so special. As you know, Bucks County is an amazing place to live and work. From the arts and culture, to the scenic landscape, to our award-winning independent healthcare system—the investment and dedication of members of our community help our entire county thrive and grow.
Faced with a new and unprecedented public health crisis, Doylestown Health remains open and committed to the health and well-being of those we serve. As an independent healthcare system, we are uniquely positioned to follow the recommendations made nationally, regionally, and locally, with the best interests of our community and patients in mind.
“Everyone across the Doylestown Health system is working collaboratively to help protect the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO, Doylestown Health. “Measures have been taken to redeploy staff, increase and redistribute necessary supplies, reduce and reschedule elective activity and procedures, and offer screenings and testing necessary to flatten the curve of this remarkable pandemic.”
Doylestown Health is coordinating with the CDC, federal, state, and local agencies to prevent the spread of potential COVID-19 (coronavirus). To that end, Doylestown Health has amended its Visitors Policy. Throughout the hospital, visitor restrictions are in place except for one support person for patients undergoing emergency procedures or surgery, maternity, pediatrics, and end-of-life care. At Pine Run Retirement Community, all visitation to the Health Center, The Garden, and Lakeview, except in instances of end-of-life, is restricted. At both the hospital and Pine Run campuses, all group gatherings, meetings, and activities have been canceled or postponed until further notice.
Please do not delay medically necessary treatments or procedures, or avoid visits to physicians for your chronic or acute conditions. Doylestown Health is ready, as always, to care for you. Please continue to stay safe and healthy and practice the recommended guidelines of frequent and thorough hand-washing and social-distancing, and remain home and away from public gatherings if at all possible. As with our founding mission, our priority remains with the patient first and foremost.
The only hospital in the U.S. founded and still governed by a women’s organization, the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA), Doylestown Hospital was first established in 1923 as an eight-bed women’s health and emergency hospital. Fast-forward nearly 100 years, with 239 licensed beds, Doylestown Hospital is a nationally recognized destination for expert and compassionate care.
Conditions and policies continue to evolve. To learn more and for the most up-to-date information, please visit the hospital’s website.
