What an extraordinary time to be celebrating National Nurses Week, a time each year when we recognize and thank our #DoylestownProud nurses. Nurses are heroes on the front line and behind the scenes, providing skilled care, compassion, and comfort at the most critical times in the lives of patients. This year during National Nurses Week, we salute our nurses for demonstrating incredible courage, fortitude, and dedication to the health and well-being of patients, colleagues, and the community at large.
This past Tuesday, in recognition of National Nurses Week and in solidarity with #GivingTuesdayNow—a global movement of giving and unity—Doylestown Health Foundation invited gifts from the community to the Nursing Scholarship Program. In that single day of giving, nearly $10,000 was contributed to the program, which funds continuing education and training and helps us achieve our 80% BSN 2020 commitment. Our commitment to providing resources and opportunities to the very best nurses is shared and supported by our community of grateful patients and donors.
On Facebook and Instagram, comments and messages poured in from our Doylestown Health family:
“Thank you and God bless you, Doylestown nurses.”
“Great job ladies and gentlemen from this retired nurse.”
“Thanks to great Doylestown Health nurses.”
“Thank you Doylestown nurses for helping me for 14 years.”
“God bless all of our nurses!”
“You are the best.”
“Thank you for all you do for our community! Xo”
“Doylestown nurses are the BEST!”
“DH has a great group of nurses who are amazing and truly inspired me when I worked there. Thanks to all of you. You are truly heroes.”
On April 26, we also marked the 125th anniversary of the Village Association of Doylestown (VIA), which founded the first Doylestown Hospital in 1923 and continues to oversee governance of the health system to this day. In tribute to the decades of leadership and philanthropy that mark the VIA’s contribution to our community, we are pleased to present this brief video. Learn more about the VIA and their remarkable history, which includes recruiting and employing the very first Doylestown Hospital Visiting Nurse.
We are fortunate to all be part of a community of heroes. Everyone, from the superstar Associates and clinical teams working in the hospital every day, to the businesses, restaurants, manufacturers, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, volunteers, neighbors and friends sending in supplies and meals, to those staying home and sending their support from afar—everyone is a hero and a testament to the extraordinary and truly unique community that surrounds Doylestown Health.
