In 1969, Anna and Edward Fell designated a portion of their estate to be placed into trusts following their lifetimes. These funds were set aside to support what they cared about most in life – their children and grandchildren, as well as the future success and sustainability of Doylestown Hospital.
With the fulfillment of the Anna and Edward Fell Trusts nearly fifty years later, the significant proceeds from their visionary bequest will become the seed gifts establishing the Doylestown Health Legacy Endowment Fund, supporting the priority needs of a growing, nationally recognized hospital.

An endowment is a fund invested in a portfolio of public and private investments with the potential to provide a high return and growth of principal over time. Each year, a portion of the endowment’s earnings is distributed in support of the programs or purposes chosen at the time of the gift. With only a portion of the interest available for distribution, endowments are intended to provide a permanent source of financial support for the areas of greatest need at Doylestown Health, or the program or priority designated by the donor.
The self-sustaining income provided by endowments can make the crucial difference in Doylestown Health’s ability to provide the highest quality patient care and remain independent and competitive in the fast-paced arena of healthcare delivery. By establishing a regular source of income, endowments create critical flexibility and security in times of extraordinary need, such as emergent public health crises, allowing Doylestown Health to respond quickly and efficiently for the better welfare of the community.
