FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

JOIN US AS WE TRANSFORM TOMORROW, TOGETHER

We thought you might have a few questions about ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions. If you have further questions, please call us at 215.345.2009 to speak to a member of the Foundation team.

What is One Vision: The Campaign for Doylestown Health?

One Vision is the theme for our comprehensive fundraising campaign. This campaign is designed to raise money to support multiple projects across Doylestown Health. Funds raised through this campaign will support:

  • Š Doylestown Health’s highest priorities and areas of greatest need
  • Š Major building, infrastructure, and other capital projects
  • Š New and existing initiatives
  • Š Our people and programs

Why is the campaign called One Vision?

One Vision reflects the essence of Doylestown Health. Together we will realize our vision—One Vision—of who we want to be: a beacon of trusted healthcare for our community for generations to come, relying greatly on who we are now and our bold beginnings as a small eight-bed hospital founded by the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA) almost 100 years ago.

Placing the well-being of our patients first is in our DNA. With One Vision, we care for patients like they are members of our own families. At every level and across the health system, our physicians, nurses, associates, and volunteers are united in their mission and approach to patient care—to provide compassionate care of the highest quality. With One Vision, we will strengthen Doylestown Health for our second century of care.

What are the priority building and renovation projects of the One Vision Campaign, and why are they important?

These projects, among others, will help us continue to improve the health of individuals and our community at every stage of life. They will also allow us to extend our services and increase the number of patients we are able to treat.

The following projects are the six capital priorities of the Campaign:

Women’s Diagnostic centerŠ

State-of-the-art Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion

ŠCommunity Center at Pine Run Retirement Community

Outpatient Surgery and Rehabilitation

ŠSurgical Suite renovation and expansion

New ŠConference Learning Suites, Wayfinding, and Main Entrance

Legacy Endowment Fund to support our second century of care

When did the campaign launch? What is the goal?

Doylestown Health initiated the quiet phase of campaign fundraising on July 1, 2016. Early gifts totaled nearly $30 million and served as a launching pad for the public announcement of the $75 million One Vision Campaign on June 1, 2018. On January 25, 2021, Doylestown Health announced the increase of the campaign to a $100 million goal, thanks to the overwhelming ongoing support of the community since the campaign launch. The conclusion of the Campaign will coincide with Doylestown Health’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2023.

Why are expansion and renovation important to Doylestown Health?

Facility expansion and renovations across the Doylestown Hospital and Pine Run campuses will provide new opportunities for innovation and growth to ensure the health and well-being of our community.

Renovating existing structures and building new facilities, like the Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care and the Clark Center for Critical Care Medicine, will increase patient access to the most advanced services and treatment options, offer enhanced amenities to patients, families, and visitors, and accommodate new equipment and innovative technology. New construction and renovation will also allow us to transition to an all-private bed hospital, completely eliminating the need for semi-private rooms.

What makes Doylestown Health unique from other hospitals/providers?

The Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA), an all-women volunteer organization, established Doylestown Hospital in 1923 for the benefit of the community. The VIA continues to oversee the governance of Doylestown Health today. Doylestown Health has grown to an award-winning, nationally recognized healthcare system delivering superior clinical care in a local, familiar setting.

How does Doylestown Health rank among other hospitals? What awards has Doylestown Health received?

Doylestown Health has received national and regional recognition:

  • Doylestown Hospital is ranked #7 in the region and #13 in Pennsylvania in the US News & World Report 2018-19 rankings. Doylestown Hospital was rated as “high performing” in aortic value surgery, colon cancer surgery, heart failure, heart bypass surgery, and hip and knee replacements. Doylestown Hospital was also cited as “excellent” in patient experience for abdominal aortic aneurysm, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip and knee replacement, and lung cancer surgery.
  • Doylestown Hospital earned an “A” grade in patient safety for the fifth consecutive time from the Leapfrog Group, an organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers (Spring 2019).
  • 78 Doylestown physicians were named as 2018 Philadelphia Magazine Top Doc honorees.

What distinguishes patient care at Doylestown Health?

Consistently recognized both regionally and nationally for high-quality care and innovation, Doylestown Health provides comprehensive healthcare ranging from routine outpatient services to clinically advanced treatment options.

Nearly 450 physicians, 3,000 nurses and associates, and over 1,000 volunteers work across Doylestown Health, delivering high-quality patient-centered care with kindness and compassion, every day. We are privileged to have a highly gifted team of motivated physicians, nurses, associates, and volunteers.

What is the value of remaining an independent health system?

Doylestown Health is one of the few remaining independent healthcare systems in the country. Doylestown Health’s independence allows us to meet the needs of our patients and the demands of the marketplace more quickly. Our partnerships with leading academic medical centers, including Jefferson Health, Penn Medicine, Temple Health, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, enable us to provide more services for our patients and families, while allowing our patients to stay local.

What is philanthropy and why is it important? Why can't Doylestown Health just pay for these projects itself?

Doylestown Health remains a nonprofit organization; we are committed to reinvesting the money we earn from operating our healthcare system back into our people, programs, and facilities. Yet even with the most responsible financial management, operating margins in healthcare are thin. This means we have less money to reinvest, making philanthropy even more crucial.

Philanthropic investments are donations from individuals and organizations to our healthcare system. These gifts allow us to accelerate the pace at which we can innovate and add new facilities, technology, and programs for the benefit of our patients. The impact of philanthropy positions Doylestown Health for a stronger future.

Can I give a Campaign gift to any area that I choose?

Yes! You can designate your gift to the Campaign-related project or service line most important to you, OR choose to support the highest priorities of Doylestown Health through the Second Century Fund which supports all of the projects and provides the cash flow needed to keep the projects on time and on budget.
