This award, established by an anonymous donor, aims to identify an exceptional nurse professional who not only exemplifies clinical excellence but also personifies the very essence of human caring by representing the caritas of the nursing identity. The award is intended to recognize nurses and the critically important work of nursing, and facilitate a sense of pride through achievement. The award provides much needed public recognition for the significant and ongoing contribution made by nurses. This is the highest honor presented annually to a nurse and significantly recognizes the importance of the spirit of compassionate care. The winner is awarded the prestigious Munsey Medal.

The Doylestown Hospital and Doylestown Health Foundation Boards of Trustees established the Eleanor Wilson Excellence in Nursing Award, in honor of retired Chief Operating Officer and former Chief Nursing Officer, Eleanor Wilson. This award recognizes a nurse who demonstrates and reflects qualities reminiscent of Eleanor Wilson.

Recognizes an outstanding and exemplary nurse who demonstrates an enthusiasm for the preceptor role. The recipient is committed to teaching, learning and leading in the clinical environment and inspiring the next generation of nurses.

Doylestown Health’s Nursing Scholarship Fund is the primary fund for awarding scholarships. This general fund has supported hundreds of nurses over the years seeking higher levels of education and training. Scholarships distributed from this fund are called “Woodall Scholarships” in honor of Marvin and Dee Ann Woodall for their tremendous support of the Nursing Scholarship Program. Contributions from the Woodall Family helped to launch the program decades ago, and the family has supported its sustained growth ever since.
Named in memory of Ruth Boland, past President of the VIA, who passed away in 2011. Funds are generated annually through the Ruth Boland Memorial Golf Outing, which is organized by the Boland Family.
Named in memory of Gene Fickes, who passed away in 2011. Gene was a local businessman, philanthropist, and supporter of Doylestown Hospital.
Named in memory of Lynda Knopf, who passed away in 2017. Lynda was a former nurse at Princeton Hospital, and wife to Dr. Ed Knopf, former Chief Medical Officer at Doylestown Hospital.
Named in memory of former night administrative coordinator, Seamus Cummins. Seamus passed away in 2015 and was a beloved member of the Doylestown Hospital family.
