DOYLESTOWN, PA – DOYLESTOWN, PA – Doylestown Health has reached another historic milestone in its comprehensive capital campaign, with more than $80 million in contributions and pledges as of October 2021.
Thousands of donors have given their support to ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health since its quiet launch in 2016, and the Lupica family made the most recent major gift of $150,000 that took the campaign to the $80 million milestone.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic and this past year, we have continued to grow and position Doylestown Health for its second century of services to the community,” says Jim Brexler, President and CEO, Doylestown Health. “Now with renewed support from our community added to the support of new donors, like the Lupicas, we are able to reach further and think bigger.” In January 2021, the campaign goal was increased from its original $75 million to $100 million, expanding the campaign’s capacity for transformational change with a nod to the approaching 100th anniversary of the founding of the first Doylestown Hospital by the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown in 1923.
The newest priority of the One Vision Campaign is the rebuilding of Children’s Village at Doylestown Hospital, following tornado damage in 2020 that destroyed the former building. Children’s Village has served thousands of families in the community for 35 years, and has been operating out of a temporary location since the tornado. Demolition of the old building began on October 12, and groundbreaking of the new facility is scheduled for December 4.
The Children’s Village rebuild has already received early support from Jeanne and John Hubbard, PhD, who pledged to match $1.5 million in new gifts to the campaign.
Also under construction at Doylestown Hospital is a new and expanded suite for the Women’s Diagnostic Center, which will be able to serve more patients in its new space off the ground floor Art Walk, adjacent to the parking garage. A signature gift from Angela and Dick Clark—co-chairs of the One Vision Campaign—and their family has kickstarted the project. The Women’s Diagnostic Center will reopen as the Clark Center for Breast Imaging in early 2022.
Support from thousands of donors—many of them first-time contributors to the health system—has allowed philanthropy to advance Doylestown Health’s strategic vision. Within the last two years, completion of the Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion, the Ambulatory Center, the Pine Run Community Center, and other capital projects has accelerated the hospital’s growth and expanded the health system’s ability to treat patients across a wide spectrum of preventive and acute care.
Brexler praises the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown—which has overseen governance of Doylestown Health since 1923—as well as the boards of trustees and the One Vision Campaign committee for their leadership and guidance in steering the campaign toward its ambitious goal.
Support is still sought to meet the $100 million goal by the campaign’s planned conclusion in 2023, and many naming opportunities are still available. For more information, visit DoylestownHealthFoundation.org.
