The Woodall Family Challenge for the health system’s One Vision campaign met with generosity, enthusiasm
July 9, 2019
DOYLESTOWN – The $2.5 million transformational investment the Woodall family made to ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health came with a challenge to the community to double their investment during the month of June. Formally announced on June 2 at an event hosted at Dark Hollow Farm in Furlong, PA, owned by friends of Doylestown Health, Bill O’Donnell and Rick Farris, Marv Woodall shared what inspired his family’s $2.5 million commitment to the hospital and challenged the community to join him in their support for the One Vision Campaign.
Donors across the community responded quickly, generously and enthusiastically to the challenge, adding another $3.15 million to the campaign.
“Marv and Dee Ann Woodall have a long history of philanthropy and support of Doylestown Health. It is their dedication to improve the quality of life in our community that influenced so many donors to meet the challenge and make an investment – or a second or third investment – in our ONE VISION campaign,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO, Doylestown Health.
Many throughout the community – individual donors, local organizations, volunteers, physicians, and Associates of Doylestown Health – answered the challenge. Several events, including those hosted by Richard and Angela Clark and Alex and Pat Gorsky, co-chairs of the ONE VISION campaign, helped to raise awareness.
Mr. Clark is the retired Chairman and CEO of Merck & Co.; Mr. Gorsky is Executive Chairman of Johnson & Johnson. The Clarks and Gorskys each made transformational investments of $5 million to ONE VISION.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the community’s response,” Mr. Woodall said. “Likewise, we are not surprised by the outpouring of generosity. This is a community that knows and appreciates high quality healthcare, whether through personal experience or news of the national recognitions for quality care that Doylestown Health earns.”
Approximately $57 million of the $75 million ONE VISION goal has been raised to date. The campaign publicly launched just over one year ago, and will end in 2023, in time for Doylestown Health’s centennial anniversary. Campaign priorities include the Center for Heart and Vascular Care, the Center for Critical Care Medicine, and an Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, as well as Pine Run’s new Community Center – familiarly known as the “Hub.” Additional priorities of the comprehensive fundraising campaign for Doylestown Health, include: new and expanded operating suites, upgraded and enhanced amenities for patients and families, a new main entrance and community-learning space, along with an endowment to secure Doylestown Health’s future well beyond its centennial.
Construction is underway on the new, state-of-the-art Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion on the Hospital’s flagship campus. Slated for completion later this year, the pavilion will house the new Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care, as well as the Clark Center for Critical Care Medicine.
As a comprehensive cardiovascular program, the Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care will continue to provide advanced care with seamless coordination, delivering routine and emergent cardiovascular treatment and prevention services with a personalized approach. Encompassing the Reif Heart Institute, General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery, the Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care will set the stage for Doylestown Health’s next century of innovation and excellence in healthcare.
“We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health and helped us achieve early success. We continue to rely on the generosity of our community to help us realize all of our goals for this campaign, designed to meet the growing needs of the people who live, and work in Bucks County as well as the thousands of people who visit each year,” says Laura Wortman, Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Doylestown Health.
