The Doylestown Health Foundation Golf Classic celebrates 30 years with longstanding business partners and supporters.
DOYLESTOWN, PA – The 30th Annual Doylestown Health Foundation Golf Classic was held Monday, June 7, at Jericho National Golf Club in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and raised more than $114,000 in proceeds for ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health and the Teen Volunteer Scholarship Program.
Established in 1991, the Golf Classic has raised more than $1.5 million cumulatively in support of several services and programs at Doylestown Health, including the Cancer Institute, critical care, the Emergency Department, MRI services, the Wound Care Center, and the VIA Maternity Center.
This year’s lead supporters were Title Sponsor Burns Mechanical, Event Sponsors John S. McManus Inc. and The Norwood Company, and Driving Range Sponsor SEI Investments Company.
“Our generosity is inspired by gratitude for the longtime partnership that we’ve shared,” says Dan Kerr, President at Burns Mechanical. “I think we’re like-minded and naturally inclined to value each other: Doylestown Health places great value on being independent thinkers and high achievers, and on providing an exceptionally high standard of care.”
Burns Mechanical has sponsored the Golf Classic for over 20 years, donating more than $144,000 in total.
“We are so grateful for everyone who has supported the Golf Classic over its long history,” says Jim Brexler, President and Chief Executive Officer, Doylestown Health. “Their partnership has generated not only significant funding for many signature projects and services of our health system but has also fostered valued relationships between Doylestown Health and the businesses, vendors, and supporters who are so important to our success.”
In total, the event was sponsored by 43 businesses and individual donors, plus nearly 20 additional contributors who donated auction items, prizes, and giveaways.
“We would like to thank the Golf Committee—led by Chris Pattyson—and this year’s sponsors for partnering with us to shape the future of healthcare excellence in our community,” said Brexler in his remarks. “Doylestown Health is proud to continue our mission of providing quality healthcare, and we couldn’t accomplish this without the investment of our community, including everyone here today.”
In celebration of the 30th anniversary, this year’s event included a 30-yard chipping contest, an air cannon golf ball launch sponsored by W.B. Mason, a silent auction, and a prize raffle, among other on-course games and contests. More than 100 golfers participated on Monday, including Jim Brownlow, retired Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Doylestown Health, and his wife Sheryl—both avid supporters of the Golf Classic during their tenure—who were present as special guests of the event.
Since 2015, Golf Classic proceeds have also supported the Teen Volunteer Scholarship Program, which honors a teen volunteer who has donated the greatest number of volunteer hours at Doylestown Hospital and demonstrated exceptional commitment to the volunteer program. The 2021 Exemplary Teen Volunteer Scholarship was awarded to Kelli Dougherty, a student of Central Bucks High School South who contributed 496 hours to the patient transport department.
Doylestown Health Foundation plans to hold the 31st Annual Golf Classic on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Jericho National Golf Club.
