DOYLESTOWN, PA – The 31st Annual Doylestown Health Foundation Golf Classic was a record-breaking success, raising more than $145,000 for ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health and the Teen Volunteer Scholarship fund.
The Golf Classic was held on Monday, June 6, at Jericho National Golf Club in New Hope, Pennsylvania—where it has been held for the past 19 years—and welcomed the greatest number of golfers and sponsors to date thanks to dual morning and afternoon tee-off times. Adding to the excitement of a landmark year, golfer Henrik Strame hit a hole-in-one on a par-3 hole, thereby winning the closest to the pin contest!
Established in 1991, the Golf Classic has raised nearly $1.8 million cumulatively in support of multiple services and programs at Doylestown Health, including the Cancer Institute, the Clark Center for Critical Care Medicine, the Emergency Department, the Morel Family Foundation Center for Prenatal Care, the Wound Care Center, and the VIA Maternity Center.
Returning again as lead supporters were Title Sponsor Burns Mechanical, Event Sponsors John S. McManus Inc. and The Norwood Company, and Driving Range Sponsor SEI Investments Company.
In total, the event was sponsored by 45 businesses and individual donors, and 30 additional contributors who donated auction items and raffle prizes.
“We want to thank everyone who supported the Golf Classic and helped us make this our best year ever!” said Jim Brexler, President and Chief Executive Officer, Doylestown Health. “The support of our community partners including local businesses and vendors is part of what makes Doylestown Health unique, and allows us to invest heavily in enhancing our programs and building facilities commensurate with our expertise. We are so grateful to our sponsors, including those joining us for the first time, and the Golf Committee for making this such a successful event.”
Since 2015, a portion of the Golf Classic proceeds have supported the Teen Volunteer Scholarship fund, which honors a teen volunteer who has donated the greatest number of volunteer hours at Doylestown Hospital and demonstrated exceptional commitment to the volunteer program. The 2022 Exemplary Teen Volunteer Scholarship was awarded to Ananya Siragavarapu, a student of Central Bucks High School South who contributed 430 hours to Doylestown Hospital’s patient transport department. Siragavarapu is entering the accelerated bachelor of science-doctor of medicine (BS/MD) program at the University of South Florida in the fall.
Doylestown Health Foundation plans to hold the 32nd Annual Golf Classic on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Jericho National Golf Club, in conjunction with a year of celebrations for the Centennial of Doylestown Health.
