Final Wood Truss Placed on Community Center at Pine Run
The new 36,000 square-foot Community Center at Pine Run will be completed in June, offering a spectrum of fresh dining options, expansive aquatic and fitness center, lively arts auditorium, and a host of activity venues for curated events.
On February 6th, with the help of workers from Gorski Construction, the final wood truss for the new Community Center at Pine Run Retirement Community was lowered into place. Onlookers appreciated watching the choreography of riggers and specialists as they set the critical centerpieces onto the roof. The truss was signed by more than 200 Villagers and Associates at Pine Run, along with leaders of Doylestown Hospital, as a part of a celebration event surrounding the construction milestone on February 1st.
At the gathering, Doylestown Health’s President and CEO Jim Brexler encouraged everyone to sign the truss and to think about how Pine Run has truly been transformed in recent years with more than $37 million in site renovations, including innovative new cottage designs and scenic courtyards. Additionally, upgrades to the entire Five-Star Pine Run Health Center and a complete revitalization of the secure dementia neighborhoods have also been completed.
The dynamic new space, partially opened last summer, gives Villagers living at Pine Run a myriad of opportunities to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. Senior Director of Healthy Living Jim Mangol strongly considered the functionality of the aquatic and fitness areas along with the aesthetics of the building in the design phase. “Design and ambience are key to a successful fitness program,” says Mangol, a nationally recognized fitness and wellness program developer. “I want everyone seeking a personal path to wellness to find inspiration at Pine Run.”
Executive Director of Pine Run Retirement Community, Maria Santangelo has a deep appreciation for the distinctive qualities of the community, having served in a variety of roles since she arrived at Pine Run in 2010. “The 43-year history of Pine Run is really special and speaks to the shared vision of the Village Improvement Association (VIA) and Doylestown Health to improve the wellbeing of members in the community,” notes Santangelo. “I know with the support of our Villagers and donors in the community, Pine Run will continue to serve many generations.”
The new Community Center is a key element in the $75 million One Vision Campaign, a comprehensive investment program by Doylestown Health that includes a new Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion, an expansion of the surgical suites at Doylestown Hospital and construction of an outpatient pavilion on the hospital campus. A new main entrance and community education center is planned for the start of Doylestown Health’s second century of service to the community in 2023.
