INVESTING IN ADVANCED IMAGING
Interventional Radiology (IR) uses medical imaging to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures that diagnose, treat, and cure conditions related to oncology, gastrointestinal issues, vascular interventions, pain management, and more. Medical imaging is a vital component in the diagnosis of many conditions, setting patients on the path to treatment, in many cases before any symptoms are detectable. Interventional Radiology at Doylestown Hospital performs more than 3,600 procedures each year, many of them urgent—and with increasing referrals from Oncology and other departments, demand is on the rise. As a priority of the One Vision Campaign, the planned renovation will expand IR to add a second procedure room and create dedicated and private treatment bays for the comfort of our patients.
Performing nearly 40 different procedures regularly—from vascular interventions such as arterial embolization, to dialysis, biopsy, and ablations—IR is one of the few services in the hospital directly involved in the diagnosis and treatment of such a wide range of conditions.
Support for this campaign priority will allow for investments in three key areas:
- A new ultrasound machine that will significantly increase the current capacity for this high-demand service, and offer greater spatial resolution, resulting in more detailed scans
- Renovations and expansions to the unit that will redistribute critical space and create new treatment and patient waiting areas to meet the growing needs of the program
- The establishment of the Radiology Education Endowment Fund to support the professional development and continuing clinical education of all Radiology staff

- Ongoing training and continuing education for staff, including funding for conferences and re-certification in the latest procedures, techniques, and imaging technology
